Europe Gross Domestic Product -GDP- increased by 0.4% in the euro zone (EA16) and by 0.2% in the Europe 27 during the third quarter of 2009, compared with the preceding quarter, according to flash estimates available by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the second quarter of this year, growth rates were -0.2% in the euro zone and -0.3% in the EU27.
When compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 4.1% in the euro zone and by 4.3% in the EU27 in the third quarter of 2009, after -4.8% and -4.9% respectively in the preceding quarter.
During the third quarter of 2009, US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- increased by 0.9% compared with the preceding quarter, after -0.2% in the second quarter. US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- reduced by 2.3% in comparisonwith the same quarter of the previous year (-3.8% in the preceding quarter).
